After an update I started having problems with my wireless even being detected, with. it and the wired ethernet switching between eth0 and eth1 randomly, and several other strange little issues. It turns out that whatever the update was caused a second set of drivers for the ehternet chip to try to load, which ended up. screwing with everything.
